Show Me On Which Days I Have Tasks Already

Filed under: Features, News — Felix & Tim on October 29, 2007 @ 6:46 pm

Hi folks,

here is another update. You may have noticed those little dashed underlines in the weekday scroller at the top of your tasklist already. They are indicating that you have already booked a task for that particular day, which might come in handy if you plan ahead.

Also, when you hover over the days, the tooltip will tell you how many tasks you have created already for that day.

The design (dashed underlines) might change and also the weekday scroller is not automatically updated yet when you add / delete a task. This will be implemented soon, though.

Happy tasking all! :]

Keep me logged in, ok? [Update]

Update:  Bret pointed out that the new feature was broken and you’d loose your login after closing the browser. This has now been fixed : ). Thanks Bret!

One of the most frequently requested features so far has been to remove the need of having to constantly log in again after your Session expires. Good news: we now have a “Keep me logged in” option on the login form. If you check it then you should stay logged in for ever (by that I mean as long as you keep your Cookies). But be careful, if you’re computer is used by more then one person, then make sure to logout before you leave it.

Hope you enjoy.

Everything working again : )

Turns out that the update to the latest cake version caused some other things to break. However, by now everything should be fixed, and the way authorization keys work has been completely refactored, so we’re only a small step away from adding support for permanent login.

Stay tuned : ).

Update issues

Hey folks,

just wanted to let all of you know that we updated the version of CakePHP this application is running on recently, and just noticed some things are broken now. Hang in while we fix User signup and some other things.

TimeZone support, yeah!

Filed under: Bug Fixes, Features, News — Felix & Tim on October 20, 2007 @ 9:20 pm

Alright folks, amongst with some other bug fixes and small enhancements we’re happy to announce full time zone support! Please go to your “My Account” page and select the time zone you’re in. This will cause the application to know when its midnight for you and move tasks over to the new day. It also enabled proper time display if JavaScript is disabled.

Other improvements include:

  • Tasks with the same progress are now also ordered alphabetically
  • The birthday field has been removed from the “My Account” page, it has no business there at this point.

First round of bug fixing

Filed under: Bug Fixes, News — Felix & Tim on @ 1:40 am

Hey folks,

here is a list of bugs that have been fixed so far:

  • Editing user profile would erase the current account password, ouch
  • After erasing the account password 0ne could log in as Felix under some circumstances, double-ouch
  • The account edit page would set the default birthday to Oct-20th
  • Dragging a task to the current day would make it disappear temporarily
  • Homepage would show signup form even if you’re already a registered user who is logged in
  • Extremely long task names (> 255 chars) would appear to save properly, but if you refresh the page they got truncated to 255 chars. (The limit is still 255, but the truncating is shown directly after the save is performed, without the need of a refresh).

If you find new bugs, please don’t hesitate to use our bug reporting page to bring them to our attention. For general feedback, please email us at: feedback@debuggable.com.

We’re really happy with all the feedback and good bug reports we got so far - please keep this stuff coming : ).

PostTask Beta Launch

Hey folks!

We, that is Felix and Tim, are happy to announce that today the official PostTask Beta Test is launched. Around 50 business colleagues and friends of ours will test the first semi-public version of PostTask to its knees. PostTask is our most radical experiment yet - and our very first experiment together. It affected everything we did – the way we ate, talked, dressed, thought and showered. Now it’s finally there - the beta test, which will last one to two weeks before the final first version goes live.

Now the reason you must be here is to fetch some information about it. So here is a little introduction to get you going about what PostTask is and what it can do for you to make you more productive. The main idea behind it is to make a list of all your tasks for a certain day and assign each one of them an amount of time that you are willing to spend on it. The application will help you stay on top of what progress has been made on each one of them and will show you how much time you have got left for a day. It will also show you how much time you have already spent on working on your tasks for that given day.

You can of course change task descriptions, the amount of progress already made and the day you want to complete the task very easily. The indicators about how much worktime is left for the day will automatically update.

The application is based on Ajax requests (for users that have javascript enabled), which makes it very responsive to your actions. There are also a few nice gimmicks put into it - for example if you decide to move a task to another date you can do so by simply drag / dropping it into a mini calendar.

One drawback as of now is that the javascript features will not work fully in IE6 / 7 and Safari. Support for these browsers will be included very soon. However, the application is still usable with these browsers, it’s just that its full power can only be revealed via Mozilla Firefox and Co.

At the moment PostTask focuses on simplicity and ease of use. However, based on feedback we get by our beta testers and our customers when the app is launched, we will include more sophisticated features.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at our application. Have fun with it and ensure to give us lots of feedback, so we can make this a very cool task management application for day-to-day usage.
